Stay Current with the CABC Indicators of Compliance
Taking into consideration the important feedback received from birth centers, the CABC Indicators & Research Committee worked diligently to revise the CABC Indicators of Compliance with Standards for Birth Centers. The new, shortened version was released September 15, 2023.
The changes to the Indicators include corrections of typographical and formatting issues, deletions to reduce redundancy, additions to address evidence-based practice, and defining Required vs Best Practice Indicators.
This document has features to make it easy to use:
- Glossary that includes terms used including special terms that encompass multiple situations, and comparisons to help describe the diversity found among birth centers.
- Index of common topics, called tags.
- End Notes with references to studies and other resources.
- Links to Changes from the last edition to this edition are found on page 5.
- Links to Critical Indicators paramount to the safety of clients and babies are found on page 6.
This is a living document, updated regularly, and new editions will be published to show any updates in response to:
- New evidence relevant to maternity and newborn care encompassing the antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn time frames
- Updates in the AABC Standards for Birth Centers
- Updates in relevant professional guidelines
